Ioana are nevoie de ajutorul meu si al tau. Oare daca ai fi in locul ei ti-ai pune speranta in niste necunoscuti?…

The AVOCATNET network, consisting of avocatnet.ro, taxeimpozite.ro, contractdemunca.ro, infosrl.ro, modelcontract.ro and legalromania.com, moved to the Business section within SATI and also in INTACT Interactive portfolio. The main reason for this re-positioning is that, as Alin said: “we’ve started to offer more and more info on the business consulting area, starting from our first approach in being a portal for the legal issues”.

Looking into SATI we can see that Avocatnet is the fourth most accessed online website in terms of economic content, competing with Hotnews.ro, ZF.ro and WallStreet.ro. The discussion forum answers more than 1000 questions per day, gathered more than 1500 lawyers, accountants or other business consulting specialists and Avocatnet will launch this summer the Law Business Map.

After discussing with Alin, managing partner within Legalnet SRL – owner of Avocatnet.ro, I’ve found some interesting stuff:
- Avocatnet.ro was launched in 2001, 2003 was the first year to really monetize
- initially the website was meant to be an online newspaper or an online law magazine
- as a service offered to the people, Avocatnet believes in satisfying a need more than in being the first in terms of traffic generated
- very soon the product will receive a video area, a law magazine (even sooner :) ), two big events and more than 20 industry meetings until the end of the year.

Congratulations Alin and keep up the good work!

A discussion about large formats took place on some local blogs and was animated by the idea that “bigger is better” (or not) in terms of ad sizes, after MediaPro Interactive and INTACT Interactive announced introducing of larger banner formats.

As usual while the Romanian market does the talking and the others the working, the US-based web measurement company Compete made an interesting study by running the same ads in two different formats on MSN (300×250, box banner) and AOL(300×600, half-page banner). Positioning was on the right side of the page, the commercial message was identical, only the format was different. Here’s what they found out:

Conclusion: “the larger ad drew the attention of more would-be shoppers, but the smaller ad found a greater concentration of motivated buyers“.

There is a company in the US (again US! :) ) that wants to change completely the face of the online ad as we knew it. Recently Short Tail Media announced that wants to test a new online ad format, based on video and that can be sold much like in TV. The beta test will take place this summer and will feature Digital 30 (D30) format which consists of a 15 and 30 secs full-page video served between pages (much like the videostitial).

Who’s the man with the plan? David Payne, the former head of CNN.com and currently CEO of ShortTail.

Who are the publishers to accept such ads? Reuters, who joined the beta-test initiative, MSNBC.com and Weather.com which are very likely to join also, and other 17 top publishers in US approached by Payne to convince them to join.

So, will we start again the discussion about “bigger is better”, “intrusive banners are not good” and “no money will decide us to run that banner”? I wonder: Reuters doesn’t care about its users or they know something extra that we haven’t learned until now?

Efectele crizei in…aer

(salariu mic = interes mic = risc ridicat). Toata discutia a pornit de la prabusirea unui avion regional din US undeva in februarie, accident soldat cu 50 de victime.
Se pare ca efectele crizei se fac simtite si la acest nivel, companiile aeriene fiind constiente ca accentul foarte mare din partea clientilor se pune pe pret si facand mutari in sensul acesta: “”People will spend three hours on the Internet to save $8. You know this! You do it yourself.” declara un VP of Finance de la o companie de zbor americana. Reactia “normala” la criza ar fi salarii mai mici, deci personal cu pregatire mai slaba…

So, v-ati gandit pana acum la astfel de implicatii ale crizei financiare? :D
